We're excited to share Elmira’s inspiring journey with Panda—a story of career growth, meaningful connections, and a brave step into a new country. With nearly 20 years of experience in clinical trials, Elmira’s move to a new role at one of the leading independent biotechnology companies highlights how Panda supports people beyond just job placements.
Panda's approach is all about helping individuals thrive, and Elmira's experience reflects our commitment to client well-being and the importance of a healthy work-life balance. A key part of her success was the support she received from Beata, one of our dedicated recruiters, who played a crucial role in helping her land this exciting opportunity.
Elmira’s career in clinical trials spans nearly two decades, defined by dedication, growth, and a passion for her work. Starting as a Clinical Research Associate (CRA), she advanced through roles like Project Manager, and Operations Manager, and ultimately became the Head of Operational Managers. Reflecting on her experience, she explains, “In all my previous roles, I also served as a Subject Matter Expert at Clinical Supplies. My responsibilities included interacting with local warehouses, writing standard operating procedures, working with Interactive Voice Response Systems and other vendors, training employees, and quality control.”
This varied background prepared Elmira for a transition to the Netherlands, where she found herself connected with Panda at a critical point in her career.
After starting her job search in spring 2022, Elmira was ready to move abroad but was uncertain of where or how. “It was a challenging period for me and my family. I wanted to find a job in a large independent biotechnology company abroad, but I had no idea in which country and how it would be,” she recalls. Things changed when Beata from our team, reached out to her with an opportunity. “At the beginning of October 2022, I received an email from Beata who was looking for a Project Manager Clinical Supply Chain for a biotech company located in Breda in the Netherlands.’” This connection ultimately led to Elmira’s new role in February which she started in 2023.
Elmira describes how Beata’s support was pivotal, especially as she navigated the challenges of relocating with her family. “I am grateful to Beata for her friendliness and focus on my professional qualities, and not on the difficulties that would be expected in connection with the relocation of me and my family,” Elmira says. Beata’s approach helped her stay focused and encouraged at every step, with detailed feedback after each interview round and guidance on everything from obtaining a visa to understanding life in the Netherlands.
One of the things that impressed Elmira most was Panda's speed and professionalism in managing her relocation. “I signed the contract at the start of December, and already on the 17th of January, Panda received visas for me, my husband, and my daughter,” she recalls. This smooth process allowed her to start her role with confidence and peace of mind, even though moving abroad had initially seemed daunting.
Reflecting on her recent role as a Project Manager in Clinical Supply Chain, Elmira describes a position that required versatility and a range of skills. “I was responsible for Supply Chain Setup for clinical trials,” she explains. She and her team focused on developing and delivering supply plans to ensure timely study starts. “This job required skills in very different areas: logic and mathematics, attention to detail, negotiating skills, and the ability to multitask.” The role’s variety meant every day was different, requiring both “psychological stability and flexibility.” Fortunately, Elmira found a supportive team environment where “it was easy to discuss difficult moments and ask for advice.”
Elmira also appreciated the ongoing support even after her start date. She highlights the regular check-ins with her Customer Care consultant, as being especially helpful. “Initially, these calls were weekly, and later became monthly. During these sessions, I asked numerous questions, ranging from choosing an insurance company to understanding the details of my payslip,” Elmira says. These check-ins made her feel confident in her new role and supported her throughout her transition. “It is extremely important to keep in touch with the employee after he has started work,” she adds.
Elmira is proud of the impact her work makes in healthcare, and her move has opened up new possibilities for both her family and her career. “Thanks to Panda, my family’s life has changed dramatically. We now live, work and study in The Netherlands and this is a new experience and interesting journey for all of us,” she says. Working for a company that significantly helps doctors and patients align deeply with her goals, and she is grateful to be part of such meaningful work.“This is one of the most regulated areas, because behind every decision we make, there is a patient whose health depends on our work,” she explains. For her, the responsibility of working in such a field is as motivating as it is meaningful.
Elmira’s journey with Panda is just one example of how our team goes beyond recruitment to foster meaningful, long-term relationships with clients and candidates. Working closely with major life sciences firms, including prominent biotech companies such as the one where Elmira now works, Panda has perfected a client-centred approach that has resulted in impressive placements and retention rates. Beata explains the collaboration: "We prioritise understanding both technical needs and cultural values of our clients. Over time, we’ve built close relationships with hiring managers, which has allowed us to anticipate their evolving needs. This deep alignment with client goals has enabled us to maintain a 25% fill rate for critical roles, consistently connecting the right talent with purpose”
Recruiting for biotech companies presents unique challenges, particularly as these companies evolve in a fast-paced, highly regulated industry. One challenge we faced in our work with biotech companies is adapting to their specific requirements over time, particularly the attributes that make a candidate a true cultural fit. Beata met this challenge through a proactive approach, investing in a long-term partnership, and frequent check-ins to stay aligned with the company's vision and values. As Beata highlights, our commitment to fostering long-term relationships with candidates ensures they are prepared, confident, and deeply aligned with our clients' missions. For those seeking roles in similar organisations, this approach translates into continuous feedback, skill-building guidance, and the readiness to step into impactful positions. “We believe in guiding our candidates to success,” Beata shares. This dedication to preparation and personal development not only enhances candidates’ readiness but also strengthens Panda's reputation for delivering exceptional talent that meets the high standards of the life sciences field.
