Together with a leading pharmaceutical company in Almere, we are looking for an experienced Facility Officer to join their team. This is a key position responsible for managing Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) on site, leading the Emergency Response (BHV) team, acting as Prevention Officer, and overseeing day-to-day facility operations.
You will play a central role in ensuring the workplace remains safe, compliant, and efficient in a highly regulated GMP environment.
1. Facility Management
Oversee the daily operations of the facility, including maintenance, cleaning, repairs, and upkeep.
Manage contracts and relationships with vendors and service providers (HVAC, cleaning, security, etc.).
Ensure full compliance with Dutch regulations on environmental sustainability and workplace safety.
Monitor and maintain critical systems (e.g. HVAC, lighting, waste disposal).
Plan and manage the facility’s annual budget efficiently.
2. Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S)
Implement and continuously improve EH&S programs in line with Dutch and international standards.
Conduct regular audits, safety walks, and risk assessments.
Investigate incidents and ensure timely resolution and reporting.
Organize safety trainings and promote a strong safety culture across the site.
3. Emergency Response (BHV)
Lead the BHV team (Bedrijfshulpverlening) and coordinate emergency response plans and drills.
Ensure all team members are trained, prepared, and equipped to handle emergencies.
Maintain up-to-date emergency protocols and evacuation procedures.
4. Prevention Officer Duties
Act as the company’s certified Prevention Officer (or be eligible to become one).
Identify workplace hazards and implement preventive measures.
Liaise with Dutch authorities to maintain full legal compliance.
Communicate safety risks and updates effectively to management.
Essential:
Bachelor’s degree in Facility Management, EH&S, or a related field.
3–5 years of relevant experience in facility or safety management.
Strong knowledge of Dutch workplace health and safety regulations.
Fluent in Dutch and English (written and spoken).
BHV certification and/or valid Dutch Prevention Officer certificate (or willingness to obtain).
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred:
Experience in GMP-regulated environments (pharma or food).
VCA, OSHA, or other relevant safety certifications.
Hands-on mentality, proactive, and able to prioritize in a dynamic setting.
Proficiency with facility management systems/software.
Calm under pressure, with excellent decision-making skills in emergencies.
