Contract: 6 months (Extension possible thereafter)
Start Date: ASAP
Location:
Ghent, Belgium

An established diagnostics company active in neurodegenerative diseases is seeking an experienced Consultant Immunoassay Development Specialist to support hands-on assay development on automated immunoassay platforms.

Due to recent growth and increased project demand, the R&D organization is strengthening its development capacity. This is a practical, development-focused role, working on assays already in the pipeline rather than exploratory research.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hands-on development of immunoassays on automated immunoassay platforms
  • Design, optimization, and validation of assay workflows and reagents (e.g. antibodies, liquids, buffers, hybridization steps)
  • Support development of explorer / prototype assays (research use, service mode, pharma collaborations)
  • Support RUO assays progressing toward IVD development
  • Work on multiple assays in parallel at different stages of development
  • Produce accurate, structured documentation in line with quality and IVD requirements
  • Support assay lifecycle activities, including troubleshooting, updates, and performance improvements
  • Collaborate closely with internal R&D teams and external pharmaceutical partners

Key Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with automated immunoassay platforms (ELISA-based automated systems)
  • Strong, proven experience in immunoassay development
  • Ability to independently design, optimize, and troubleshoot assays

What We’re Looking For

  • MSc or PhD in Life Sciences, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related field
  • IVD experience is a strong plus
  • Highly structured, precise working style with strong documentation skills
  • Ability to work autonomously while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary R&D teams
  • Comfortable working in structured, quality-driven or regulated environments
