PI System Engineer | Digital Manufacturing

Job Description
A global life sciences organisation is seeking an experienced PI System Engineer | Digital Manufacturing to administer, maintain, and support PI System infrastructure within a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment. The role focuses on process data historian management, system integrations, data analytics, and reliable operation of PI-related infrastructure.

In this role, you will manage PI Data Archive, PI Asset Framework, Event Frames, interfaces, connectors, and supporting infrastructure. You will develop PI Analytics, KPIs, and data evaluation solutions, while designing and troubleshooting integrations between PI and systems including DeltaV, PLCs, MES, LIMS, and enterprise applications. You will collaborate closely with Automation, Manufacturing, Engineering, Data Analytics, and IT teams and support GxP documentation, validation, and data integrity requirements.

Essential Requirements
· Degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a similar field
· Strong IT background covering servers, databases, networking, virtualization, and system integrations
· Hands-on experience with PI Data Archive
· Hands-on experience with PI Asset Framework (AF), including templates, hierarchies, and attributes
· Experience with Event Frames (EF)
· Experience with PI Interfaces & Connectors
· Experience with PI Analytics, KPIs, calculations, and data evaluation solutions
· Experience with PI SDK / AF SDK / PI Web API
· Experience developing or supporting integrations and applications using REST APIs and SQL-based solutions
· Experience in GMP-regulated environments and GxP documentation
· Experience supporting validation activities and data integrity compliance
· Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
· Ability to ensure system reliability through monitoring, troubleshooting, lifecycle management, upgrades, and patching
· Fluent English and/or German

Preferred Requirements
· Experience in pharmaceutical or biotech manufacturing
· Knowledge of DeltaV, MES, SCADA, and industrial automation systems
· Experience with Power BI, SQL databases, and data analytics platforms
· Understanding of OT cybersecurity and data governance principles
· Experience with digital manufacturing and Industry 4.0 initiatives
· Strong cross-functional collaboration skills across Automation, Manufacturing, Engineering, Data Analytics, and IT teams

Practicalities
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Visp, Switzerland
Contract Type: 1-year contract with possibility of extension
Work Arrangement: 100% site-based
